Camp Director - Seasonal

Responsible for the organization, operation, and supervision of assigned camps.
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, must be at least 21 years old with two years' experience in youth related leadership required.
Create, implement, and communicate lesson plans and weekly schedule.
Train, supervise and evaluate staff.
Conduct staff meetings and training.
Organize program special events and related activities.
Purchase, distribute, and maintain an inventory of supplies.
Respond to concerns and complaints in a timely manner.
Enforce camp rules and regulations.
Guide campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities.
Observe campers behavior, assess its appropriateness and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
Collect in-processing forms from parents.
Obtain a list of medication. Control and administer medication based on written consent.
Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer.
Follow the Wheaton Park District policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Proactively support the V.A.L.U.E.S. (integrity, fun, commitment, adaptability and growth, kindness, and service) on a daily basis.
Organize, live, demonstrate, and implement the Character Counts program for coaches and parents.
Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
Assist with emergency procedures and building evacuations.
Attend meetings and in-service trainings as required.
Appropriately resolve concerns, problems and emergencies that arise.
Other duties as assigned.
Must have and maintain: valid driver's license with acceptable driving records; CPR/AED certified or obtained within one (1) year of employment. Be a "Mandated Reporter" for the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.
Must be able to: frequently move about the facility, outdoor areas, and occasionally on uneven ground for long periods of time; occasionally position ones' self to participate in camp activities and move items weighing up to 25 lbs.
Must be able to: occasionally work indoors in moderate lighting and noise and be exposed to all weather conditions, biting/stinging bugs and insects, dirt, and poisonous plants.
This position may occasionally be exposed to all weather conditions, insects, dirt, and poisonous plants. This position will rarely be exposed to heights over 12 feet, fumes, odors, dust, mold, mud, and wet, slippery floors and surfaces.
Must be able to demonstrate strong leadership qualities. Maintain a positive attitude while dealing with campers and parents. The ability to deal with stressful situations and to respond to needs of participants with disabilities. Be a positive role model and leader. Must possess excellent problem solving skills, must be able to follow direction while showing good safety awareness and judgment. Must be organized, dependable, and flexible.
M-F 8:45am-4:45pm, approximately 40 hours per week
Salary: $10.00-$12.00 per hr

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
