Employment Services Coordinator (35 hours/week)
Peoples Resource Center (PRC) is a 39-year not-for-profit social service organization. PRC serves DuPage County residents in need of basic services (food, clothing, and emergency assistance) and empowerment services (ESL, computer training, job search assistance, and art enrichment). PRC serves over 31,000 people per year, has an annual operating budget of $2.8 million, and has 36 employees and over 1,900 volunteers.
PRC is hiring an Employment Services Coordinator to coordinate volunteer provided employment assistance services to over 250 clients while working with a Job Developer and a team of 30 volunteer job mentors. This is a 35 hour/week position eligible for full benefits. Three years of experience in employment services is required, as well as flexibility to work occasional evenings and Saturday mornings.
Summary of Responsibilities
Contribute to program conception, design, and functionality
Create, coordinate and provide and/or supervise training, workshops, and departmental communication for job assistance clients
Assist in developing, maintaining and communicating training and development materials for clients and volunteer job coaches to ensure an effective and progressive job assistance program
In collaboration with Volunteer Coordinator, identify, implement and improve upon the process of recruiting and screening volunteer job coaches
Train volunteer job coaches on database functions and use that to support program goals
Interview, select, orient, train, support and recognize volunteer job coaches
Monitor, evaluate and coach volunteers in methods to improve their coaching effectiveness
Maintain and utilize an effective and accurate computerized system of data for the job assistance program
In collaboration with Job Developer, assist in maintaining positive relationships and partnerships with community organizations
Ensure complete screening and registration for clients seeking job assistance services in collaboration with volunteer coaches
Provide referrals as needed to PRC social services and community resources
Summary of Requirements
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
3 years prior experience in employment services
Experience working with volunteers or providing customer service preferred
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Interest in workforce development and compassion for the underserved
Good verbal, written and presentation skills
Ability to supervise volunteer staff
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to effectively promote PRC & Job Assistance program to other organizations
Able to work effectively with volunteers, with people from other countries and with people speaking other languages
Computer Literate: Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet search engines
